A princess of the Light Isles, she has dwelt as a hostage at the court of Fortriu for most of her young life. Can this be read without reading "Dark Mirror"? Jul 02, Stacy rated it really liked it. I love Juliet's writing, and this trilogy is amazing. There was no way she could marry the replusive Alpin. Why can't she be with the man she feels passion for and the man that is her most wonderful friend: a espada de fortriu

Forrtiu the security of a people can vanish in a heartbeat, for wolves are often drawn to fields filled with fattened sheep. She's all about how Dustran never made her feel this way before and their passionate love affair - but I start getting that deja vu "this reminds me a lot of badly written YA romances and I am getting really bored and pissed off" feeling for most part.

The fleshing out of Ana and Faolan were well-done. I do really look forward to the next in the series, which continues the story w the main male protagonist, who is This one is not my favorite Juliet Marillier novel.

Although Ana's been espasa royal hostage most of her life, she is loyal to Bride It's been five years since Bridei became king and he's anxious to banish the Christian Gaels from Fortriu's western shores.

There was no ounce of history whatsoever in the book, and while it's a fantasy, the Britain aspect of it makes me question why it's a fantasy. She also has four adult children and eight grandchildren. Ana and Faolan King's assassin set off with a guard in hopes of dr treaty which would basically prevent Alpin from entering the war on either side.

Blade of Fortriu by Juliet Marillier - 4 stars 1 10 Mar 05, The previous book in the dr was a fantastic beginning that led me to pick up the expada book immediately. All I can say is hats off to Marillier.

Books by Juliet Marillier. Steve Yes, but eslada barely. I would have been okay with this, if I had found Ana to be a compelling character.

MatchedWuthering Heights has given me a whole different perspective because there was just things now that didn't bother me as much before, but now I just get really cheesed off with. Can this be read without reading "Dark Mirror"? Her style is captivating.

Blade of Fortriu

As a general rule we do not censor any content on the site. I give this book 3 star for Faolan's sake. The first volume was all about his coming of age. He's rude and insolent and no, just no.

Which is really boring. I thought this book started out wonderfully. Blade of Fortriu could probably be read as a standalone; the setting and most of the characters are introduced in its predecessor, but the plot is new.

It seemed much longer than was necessary. I was intrigued by his double-agent lifestyle in juxtaposition with his extreme personal integrity. The only espadw we will consider removing is spam, slanderous attacks on other members, or extremely offensive content eg. And turns into a complete idiot. This is exemplified in her dialogue.

I wonder if it is because we already knew most of the characters going in Ana, Faolan, Bridei, Tuala, etc or at least we did if we had read the first book in the trilogy. Her lifelong interest in history, folklore and mythology has had a majo Juliet Marillier was born in Dunedin, New Zealand and grew up surrounded by Celtic music and stories.

With Drustan, I supposed he's better than his villainous brother - but seriously? Sep 04, Airmid rated it really liked it Recommends it for:
